Reminiscent of 2011 year-end when Chairman Eilert pushed the Commissioners into purchasing a condemned and asbestos ridden building to house The National Museum of Suburbia from “friends of the Commission”, last week and again today we witnessed King Eddie attempt to persuade the Commissioners to violate both Kansas State Laws and the Johnson County Home Rule Charter. To his dismay and visual frustration, three Commissioners insisted on slowing this year-end push for more information.

NOlathe has no stated position on the status or future of Johnson County’s Mental Health Board or any of the many other Boards/Commissions appointed by the County Board of Commissioners.
NOlathe does however have a clearly stated position that “the rule makers should follow the rules.”
Johnson County has the only “Home Rule Charter” in Kansas which allows some autonomy in decision making. A special “Home Rule Charter Commission” convenes every ten years to discuss changes in the Charter or suggested changes to State Statutes. The most recent Charter Commission was in 2011 with the final report issued 2/1/12 Charter Commission Final Report
It is abundantly clear that both The County Commission and The Charter Commission had concerns about The County Commission’s inability to remove with just cause a volunteer appointed by The County Commission to any of the several Boards/Commissions as highlighted in this Resolution within the final report-
During the 12/12/13 debate both Chairman Eilert and Chief Counsel Jerrett completely ignore both The Charter, State Statutes and the Charter Commission’s recommendation. This 47 min debate is lengthy but extremely entertaining if just for hypocrisy’s sake.
So now to be discussed yet again 12/19/13 because of the pending urgency, to do what? Again, to do what? The Commissioners must stand as one to stop this imperial madness.
