Commissioner Allen’s landmark legislation is literally a landmark. Although most of us call it the county dump.
In opposition to retro-active Kansas Law but within compliance to significant campaign contributions, Johnson County remains aligned with Deffenbaugh Industries (aka Waste Management) when it comes to your trash. On December 11, 2014 Board of County Commissioners voted 4-3 to continue this mandatory contractual requirement which yields no measurable or beneficial use of landfill utilization or commodity re-use:
- Deffenbaugh pays to the County $350,000 a year.
- Deffenbaugh is billed for two County Employee wages/benefits.
- Deffenbaugh directly/indirectly controls County waste management vision.
- Deffenbaugh allowed to double customer fees to recoup expenses resulting from above.
